Leitzke, Alice L. Age 98, of Champlin, passed away on June 6. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence; & her siblings. Survived by Son, Jeff (Eileen); Daughter, Jennifer Mckenzie; Grandchildren, Brian (Amanda) Leitzke, Kristine Leitzle & Emily Mckenzie.
Alice was born 1926 and grew up on a farm in Brooklyn Park. Growing up, they went to school, and when her two brothers and two sisters got home, they went to work in the fields. After graduation, she worked as a typist at an insurance company in Minneapolis. When Clarence returned from the war (WWII), they started dating and married in 1950. They bought Clarence’s mother’s house from the family in Osseo and the land next door and started a service station business where Alice kept the books. In 1954 Jeff was born, followed by Jennifer in 1963. Clarence and Alice operated the service station until 1967 with up to 17 employees. After that, Alice went to work for Reo Plastics. In 1991 they moved from Osseo to Champlin. Alice was a life long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church. She sang in the choir and played piano at home. She liked making pottery, doing embroidery and gardening. She also enjoyed fishing where they kept a boat at Kuschel’s boat harbor on Mille Lacs. Later they had a cabin on Mille Lacs where they would visit on weekends and she enjoyed regular visits to the casino for Black Jack. She loved playing cards, especially cribbage and 500 and was a member of a 500 card club for over 50 yrs. She was a very competitive card player. She made delicious holiday meals and set a gorgeous table. Alice lived in their house with Clarence until 2005, and then alone, until Sept 2022 when she moved to assisted living.

Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next. Evans-Nordby was recommended to us by our Priest and I’m so glad he did. From the moment I talked to Tina on the phone I could tell we were in good hands as she took care of every detail. We met with her the next day and she went through all the aspects of what we were to expect in the coming days, weeks, then months ahead. Every employee we had contact with at Evans-Nordby was kind, compassionate and extremely professional. Thanks Tina and to all at Evans-Nordby for making an unbearable experience at least tolerable.
