Obituary for Amy Houts

Amy Eualila (Shank) Houts, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, January 4, 2025. She married Russell Frederick "Fred" Houts on June 17, 1961 and they were married for 53 years until his passing in 2015. Amy was a programmer and project manager for the MN Department of Revenue.

She is survived by her daughter, Kerry Houts; her son, Jon (Josephine) Houts; as well as four siblings, Bernice Brockelsby, Clark David Shank, William Shank and Helen Forbes; six grandsons, Nathaniel Houts, Andrew Houts, Jaheim Nuah, Biggie Konneh, Jonathan Houts, and Alexander Houts; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Clark & Genevieve Shank; a brother, Jim Shank; a daughter-in-law, . Jasmine Houts, and two grandsons, Walter Jonathan Houts and Eric Michael Houts.

A Celebration of Amy's life will be held at New Hope Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service. Private interment will be held at the Mound Cemetery in Brooklyn Center, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the New Hope Church, 4225 Gettysburg Ave. N., New Hope, MN, for Disability Ministries or the Hope Bridge Food Shelf.

Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next.
