Barbara Jean Maus passed away peacefully on February 20, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on September 4, 1940, to Howard (Pat) and Ann Bruce.
Barbara was a devoted wife to Bill Maus, whom she married on May 28, 1960. Together, they raised four children: Craig (Emily), Laurie Hennen (Al Scheiller), Cindy Eldred (Tim), and Kurt (Patty). Barbara was an exceptional grandmother to Abbey, Karen, Caroline, Lilia, Eilee, Lindsay, Grace, Parker, Kelton, Haley, and Blake, and was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Ellis, Wesley, and Jackson. Barbara is survived by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her sisters, Patsy Steffek and Judy Shivley.
Barbara spent many years working as a dedicated employee at Birch Grove Elementary School. Her kindness and unwavering spirit extended beyond her profession and were demonstrated by her selection as Volunteer of the Year at J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice. Barbara's legacy of compassion and generosity will remain in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family kindly requests that contributions in Barbara's memory be made to the Dementia Society of America. The Society's research on vascular dementia continues to provide breakthroughs in the treatment of this disease. Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next. Evans-Nordby was recommended to us by our Priest and I’m so glad he did. From the moment I talked to Tina on the phone I could tell we were in good hands as she took care of every detail. We met with her the next day and she went through all the aspects of what we were to expect in the coming days, weeks, then months ahead.
