Carol A. King, age 93, of Brooklyn Park, passed away Oct. 31, 2023.
Carol was born and raised in and around Hinckley, MN and moved to Minneapolis immediately after high school. During this time she met her husband and life partner, Calvin K. King. Together they developed a close circle of friends who would make jaunts from the cities to Hinckley, Moose Lake, and points in-between, all the while cementing friendships and making memories. This small and very close circle of friends lasted throughout the years where they shared all of life’s experiences together.
Carol’s priority was providing a welcoming, warm, loving, and clean home for her family (immediate and extended), and friends. No one ever went without when entering the King home. *Carol and Cal spent many winters in Florida. It was during these years that Carol found immense joy in shelling. She studied the varieties, she knew the best time to walk the beach for maximum shelling opportunities, and designed one of a kind gifts using her significant shell inventory! *She loved making Christmas stockings from felt, beads, sequins, and embroidery stitches, and made sure everyone in the family would have one. She was a perfectionist when making these heirlooms to be. *An activity that made her most happy was creating in her kitchen - her happy place! She cooked and baked everything from traditional midwest dishes to new delicacies to share. Here again, everything was done to perfection. Her affection for cooking and baking was passed on to most of her family members, and her love for the ‘kitchen life’ shows signs of continuing through the generations.
Carol’s greatest love and joy in life was her family. She provided a safe and loving cocoon for her children. This environment was continued with fervor for her three grandchildren, and again for her great grandchildren. She was always ‘present’ for her family giving them her undivided attention. Through this she generated a learning opportunity for the young. She demonstrated how to live life with kindness, respect, and love for all.
Preceded in death by husband, Calvin & grandson, David Scott. Survived by son, Scott (Debby) King; daughter, Joyce (David) Ferrie; granddaughters, Tina McIntyre and Tara (Huck) Finn, and step-grandson Tony (Kim) Ferrie. She also leaves behind her most treasured little angels, her five great grandchildren. Maeve Finn, Calvin Finn, Silas Finn, Thaddeus Finn, and Max McIntyre.
It was Carol’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to St. Gerard’s Youth Group.

It is a place of compassion, sincerity, professionalism, and staff who go above and beyond their call of duty. Our family has sadly used both chapels over the past months. The caring did not stop after the services. They offer their continued compassion to adults and children. With grateful hearts thank you.
