Born October 26, 1976, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, to Robert and Cheryl Kurtz. He passed away on August 5, 2021. He attended Robbinsdale Cooper High School, playing both baseball and football. He worked various jobs until starting at Cub Foods in 1996 where he met and pursued Karen Jones, marrying her July 22, 2000, often serenading 80’s music to her in his sweet, deep voice while riding together in his truck.
After 16 years with Cub, he attained his CDL and worked various jobs gaining experience before being hired with MNDOT in 2015, starting as a Transportation Generalist. He was promoted to Transportation Generalist Senior in 2019, and then promoted to Transportation Operations Supervisor in 2020. His drive was to continue moving up the ladder.
Chad was a man of adventure and enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, running marathons, music, bonfires and beers with the neighbors, and his friends and family. He was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors that needed a tool or help with any need. He also helped with his kids’ activities, assisting with youth football for his son and dancing with his daughter at recitals.
Chad often did things the hard way, but so many memories will be cherished, especially the last two big vacations: in Alaska with his parents and brother and Yellowstone with Karen and the kids. The Yellowstone trip was especially fun, and he spoke often of going back.
Survived by his wife, Karen; two children, Jacson & Anya, both his pride and joy; his mom & dad, Cheryl & Bob; younger brother, Chet; brother-in-law, Jeff (Jeni); nephew, Micah; nieces, Katelin & Emily; and many other family and friends who loved him.
Chad’s favorite meal was his mom’s ham and baked potatoes and his favorite dessert was French silk pie. All who knew him will remember his big personality when dining on his favorites, along with his quick wit and the many stories he told or that you were a part of.

I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home. It was a very difficult time and they were so caring, sensitive, helpful and very organized in making the funeral go smoothly. The funeral home in Osseo felt so welcoming and comfortable also. Tina was extremely helpful in guiding our family with planning the funeral and went out of her way in finding the right memorial folder for my husband. I would highly recommend them. Thank you all.
