Cheryl Lucas, 73, Corcoran, MN, passed away suddenly on August 2, 2024.
Cheryl was born in 1951, in Minneapolis, to Arlene and George Fredrickson.
Cheryl graduated from Brooklyn Center High School, in 1969. She was married to Stephen Lucas. In their 49 year marriage they had 4 girls, Leslie, Colleen, Chelsea and Nicole.
Cheryl loved to move. Going for walks with friends and family, trying out the pickleball craze and her favorite activity, biking. Cheryl was part of the Maple Grove Wheelers bike club. She loved fishing, had a passion for country music, and always arranged the annual family camping and biking trip. The only time she sat still was to read a book, she was a ferocious reader. She loved to learn as much as she could about history and took pleasure in visiting historic sites. Cheryl was a world traveler, there wasn’t a destination she didn’t want to see and experience. She had been to Ireland, Mexico, all over Europe, and the US.
After being a stay at home mom for many years Cheryl applied for a job at UPS. She went from working at the customer service counter, to being an integral part of the human resources department. So much so that they asked for her to return as a temp for the busy season after her retirement.
Cheryl adored her 5 grandchildren and was so proud of each of them and attended every event that she could to support them and cheer them on. The ones she couldn’t attend she streamed on a computer so she wouldn’t miss a minute of the action. Her departure from this world is a great shock and a deep wound, and is gravely felt by her entire family and friends. Her family deeply appreciates your support during this impossible time.
Survived by her husband, Stephen Lucas. In the last year Stephen had a stroke and Cheryl was his rock and advocate. He is incredibly grateful how she took care of him like no one else could. Also survived by her daughter Leslie Weide, son–in-law Matt, grandsons Hunter and Lucas; daughter Colleen Vossen, son-in-law Chad, granddaughters Charlotte, Harper, Everleigh; and her twin daughters Chelsea Lucas and Nicole Lucas. Also survived by sisters Cindy Houfer and Nancy Bursey.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
