Obituary for David Steiskal

David F. Steiskal, age 74 of Brooklyn Park, passed away on 11/1. Preceded in death by his parents George and Ruby; his brother Darryl; and his second love, his dogs, Mikie, Vermont and Montana. Survived by his wife Marlys Carls-Steiskal, 3 younger brothers, Don (Deb), Doug (Sandy), and Dan; sister-in law, Joann; special brother, Don Hudson and many nieces and nephews.

David worked as a draftsman. His career included Catinia Builders, Harmon Contract, Copper Sales and Cabinets Unlimited in Rockford MN. He loved working with wood and excelled at building furniture, cabinets, tables and most anything someone needed built. In his younger days he worked on ice racing cars and delivered canoes in northern Wisconsin. David treasured the time he spent on the Hudson Ranch in Montana where he hunted whitetail. Fishing in Canada was a real joy for him and Marlys. Traveling in the RV was also a joy. Whenever there was a lineup of cars behind him, he would pull over and let them go by.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
