Obituary for Delbert Haase

Delbert H. Haase was born full of love on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1934 to Herman and Mary Haase. Delbert went to the Rural Schools of Todd County for eight years. He graduated in 1952 from Bertha-Hewitt High School. After high school, he went to Fargo with a cousin and worked for a few years at a grocery store.

In 1957 the Army called. He was sent to the 98th General Hospital in Baumholder, Germany. His assignment was to order supplies for the hospitals. In 1959 he was honorably discharged.

In 1960 Delbert married the love of his life, Caroline. He then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. He worked at Aslesens for 19 years - until the company closed. After Aslesens, he worked many other jobs including a taxi driver, the Robbinsdale School District, and delivering flowers for a local florist. A favorite job of his was driving for 20 years at Automotive Concepts. He loved driving cars all over the city and doing out of town trips. When he finally retired to spend more time with his wife, the company had a big party at the shop for him.

He was an incredibly loving, caring, and supportive husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He had many friends because if he met you once, he never forgot your face and would always greet you when he saw you. He had a strong faith since childhood and was an active member at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Mary Haase, brothers Harlan, Laverne, LeRoy and Elvin who was lost in the Korean Conflict, sister Erna Rausch, and twins at birth.

Delbert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Caroline, children Nancy (Lynn) Anderson, Kelly (Brian) Ellefson, and Michael Haase; grandchildren Joshua, Jacob (Laura), Jonathan, Joseph Anderson, Blake and Ashlee Ellefson; great-grandson Clyde Anderson; and his sister Mary Ann Studanski.
