Margret Messerer passed away at age 93 on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Tracy, California.
Margret was born Ethel Margret Plummer on August 10, 1929 in Ganges, Michigan. She was the 8th child of Louis & Bertha Plummer’s 11 children.
Following high school she graduated a RN at a nursing college in Chicago, Illinois; then attended Ozark Bible Institute in Arkansas.
Margret and Donald Messerer (from Sumner, Iowa) married June 7, 1953.
They made their home first in California, then Hawaii. In 1961, they moved to Pine City, MN, where they mostly raised their 10 children. Margret worked part-time at Rush City Hospital.
In 1983, they returned to Hawaii to live. After all their children had graduated from high school, they gradually spent more time in the Philippines working at a Bible School. This led to a permanent move to the Philippines to continue their Christian ministry there full time.
After Don’s passing in 2009, Margret spent most of her time being close to family both in Minnesota and California.
Margret will be lovingly remembered both here and abroad for her strong faith, devoted family values, sense of humor, and not shying away from an adventure. She is survived by her 10 adult children and their spouses, 32 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 29th at 2pm, at the Lutheran Church of the Master in Brooklyn Center, MN, with a visitation at 1pm.

I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home. It was a very difficult time and they were so caring, sensitive, helpful and very organized in making the funeral go smoothly. The funeral home in Osseo felt so welcoming and comfortable also. Tina was extremely helpful in guiding our family with planning the funeral and went out of her way in finding the right memorial folder for my husband. I would highly recommend them. Thank you all.
