Obituary for Greg P. Warner

Greg P. Warner, 69, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 at his home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Greg was born July 25, 1950 to Stuart and Kathleen Warner in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the second oldest of five children. Greg was a 1968 graduate of Osseo High School.

He served in the U.S. military in Vietnam for the Army from October 17th, 1968 and was honorably discharged as a sergeant on May 22nd, 1971. He was employed at Horner Waldorf in St. Paul upon returning to Minnesota, where he worked in recycling for 32 years. He finished his working years at Larson Records in Roseville and retired at age 62.

Greg married the love of his life, Linda, on June 22, 1973, in Osseo, Minnesota and enjoyed 46 years together. He affectionately endured raising three daughters who filled his heart. He thoroughly appreciated his sons-in-law for taking over the reins. Greg also took joy in being entertained by his five grandkids and two great-grandkids.

He loved spending time with his buddies playing pool, golfing, hunting, bowling, pull tabs, playing cards and fishing. He really enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt in the winning lane. Endless memories caravaning with the effervescent VACATION GROUP in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin over 35 years, playing characters for murder-mystery dinner parties, and house-jumping for monthly Gourmet Dinner Gatherings. He found adventure in his travels to Alaska, a catamaran cruise of the Caribbean, Banff Canada, and Gloucester Massachusetts with his lovely wife and close friends and family.

A special thank you to his VA nurses, Jodi and Kelly, Dr. Downs, Dr. Rohla, and all the staff at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center who had a hand in taking such great care of Greg over the past several years.

Survived by loving wife Linda; daughters Kellie (Mark), Lindsay (Jarod) and Casey (Tony); grandchildren Kyleigh, Audrey, Scotty, Kendyl and Jackson; great-grandchildren Mateo and Dahlia; siblings Neil (Sheri), Dave, and Julie (David) Showers; many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by parents Stuart & Kathleen, brother Kevin and nephew Thomas.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 23 at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 34 2nd St. NE, Osseo, MN with visitation one hour prior. Greg will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling Cemetery at a later date.

For everyone who had the honor of knowing him will certainly miss his sense of humor, quick wit, and commanding presence. Love you, until we meet again.

I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home. It was a very difficult time and they were so caring, sensitive, helpful and very organized in making the funeral go smoothly. The funeral home in Osseo felt so welcoming and comfortable also. Tina was extremely helpful in guiding our family with planning the funeral and went out of her way in finding the right memorial folder for my husband. I would highly recommend them. Thank you all.
