Walk in love, not sadness because she is with Jesus.
Helen Teresa Dobson (Hughes) went home to God on10/28/2021 surrounded by her loved ones.
Preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth.
Helen is survived by her wonderful husband of 60 years, Bill; son, Jim (Sharon); daughters, Jodi (Michael), Jennifer, and Charlie (Matthew); grandchildren, Callie (Nate) and Chelsey (Tim) with their mother Betsy Dobson, Josh (Heidi), Jason (Kristen), Mick, Tori (Jonah), Liv and Waylon: 5 great-grandchildren; all of her brothers and sisters and countless nieces and nephews.
Helen was born March 19, 1941 in Robbinsdale MN, the 3rd of 6 children.
She met the man she would marry in high school at Robbinsdale High.
After graduating from Miller Hospital Nursing School in 1961 as an LPN, they married. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years working in women's health and geriatrics and her skills were valued by many. Helen and Bill worked hard together during those years, building a beautiful life for their four children in Brooklyn Park. Upon retirement, they moved north to live in the home they built on Ponto Lake in Backus, MN. They enjoyed many years of lake life on Ponto with friends and family. Wanting to be closer to family, they moved back to the Twin Cities in 2019, settling in
Plymouth.
A woman of strong faith, Helen was an active member of the Catholic church. This was evidenced by the character and integrity with which she led her life. In retirement she was a eucharistic
minister, participated in study groups and assisted in many of the church’s charitable endeavors.
Helen's hands crafted the most beautiful things. She quilted, knitted, crocheted, sewed and embroidered. Those who received her work as a gift treasure it greatly. An avid reader, she particularly loved mysteries and historical fiction. Helen loved games that challenged her mind, playing cribbage and other card games along with the daily crossword puzzle… in pen. She will be dearly missed.

I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home. It was a very difficult time and they were so caring, sensitive, helpful and very organized in making the funeral go smoothly. The funeral home in Osseo felt so welcoming and comfortable also. Tina was extremely helpful in guiding our family with planning the funeral and went out of her way in finding the right memorial folder for my husband. I would highly recommend them. Thank you all.
