Janett "Jan" Hamm, age 78, of Brooklyn Center, MN passed away peacefully June 19, 2020.
A devoted Operating Room - Registered Nurse, Jan dedicated almost her entire career at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She was a very colorful and fiercely independent person who loved to travel and enjoyed attending pro baseball games.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn & Harold Mengelkoch.
Survived by her children, Nancy (Troy) Eckdahl and Tim Hamm; her sister, Judy (Bruce) Johnson and brother, John (Brenda) Mengelkoch and she took extreme pride in her 4 grandchildren, Kelsie, Matthew, Kayla, and Andrew. Jan was a faithful and prayerful parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church for 55+ years where she enjoyed singing in the choir and helping the medical volunteers with monthly blood pressure checks, etc.
A Christian Mass to celebrate her life will be at 11 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2020, with visitation after 10:30 AM, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 7025 Halifax Ave. N., Brooklyn Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next. We met with her the next day and she went through all the aspects of what we were to expect in the coming days, weeks, then months ahead.
