Passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021. He was born in Adrian, Michigan on August 22, 1969 to Leroy and Barbara Sevitts. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and served in Desert Storm. He followed his twin sister, Julie, to Minnesota after serving in the Navy and has lived here ever since. He met Leanna Holms in 1999 and they married on July 21, 2001. They have amazing twins, Sam and Sophie.
Jeff had a strong love for Michigan, family, friends and having a good time. Jeff was always quick with an observation or joke - usually at the expense of the people he loved best! Spending time with Jeff was always an experience. He enjoyed time with family and friends playing golf, pool, bean bags, cards, bowling, listening to music on his bluetooth, telling stories and taking trips with/to family. Jeff loved his animals. Franklin, Tigger and Charlie were spoiled by Jeff regularly, His proudest and favorite life accomplishment was being Sam and Sophie’s dad. They were everything to him. Jeff lives on in their quick wit, warm hearts and good times.
He was the funniest person we knew - yet he was terrible at telling jokes because he could never tell them right or remember the punch line. He was a big, tough, strong guy - yet he was terrified of spiders and had a gag reflex that got him out of doing anything even slightly gross. He had a huge heart and cared about so many of us - yet he was the first to criticize how or why you were doing something. Jabs from Jeff were like a badge of honor for many of us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Leroy Sevitts, brother Tim Sevitts, and grandparents. He is survived by wife Leanna (Holms) and children Sam and Sophie; sisters Susan Sevitts, Sally Fravel, Janet Sevitts, Mary Kelchen and Julie Carnahan (Joshua); step-mother Betty Banks; nieces and nephews Josh Gorey (Gail Queen), Amber Nelson (Ryan), Jaren Kelchen (Desiree), Lucy Holms, Riley Bright, Emily Bright, Dory Holms, Dempsey Carnahan and Donny Holms.
We are sending a special thank you to the medical staff at the U of M Fairview Cardiac ICU. They took wonderful care of all of us. It was comforting to know he was getting the best care possible.
He has left behind many broken hearts. Jeff will be greatly missed by everybody. We are blessed to have incredible family, friends and neighbors to support us through this difficult time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for Sam and Sophie’s scholarship fund.
