Obituary
Jodean Marie Raven
Jodean Raven age 65 was a loving wife of 39 years
10 months, mother,
grandmother, sister and friend to many. She
passed away on February
14, 2022 due to cancer, with family at her side.
She was born to farmers Edward and Florence
Swatzina on October 26,
1956 and she was very proud to be a "farmers
daughter"! Graduated
from Stanley Boyd High School in 1974 and Mid
State Technical College
in 1977. Jodean held a number of positions
in the medical field:
operating room technician, medical assistant in
pediatric neurology
and prenatal screening. This is also the
field where Jodean met the
love of her life at a simulated
mock-disaster. They met and after
five years of dating were married.
Together Jodean and her husband Mike raised 2
children Jon and Mary.
In recent years they loved spending time with
their grown children and
their families. One grandson and three grand
dogs made them
Grandparents - a role they cherished! Jodean
had many interests, but
loved gardening, sewing, knitting, baking, reading,
diamond art and
fishing too.
Whether at the hunting cabin in Sand Creek, WI or
cottage in Hayward, WI
another favorite pass time was sitting around the
breakfast table or
the dock reminiscing about the years gone by and
always with family
and great friends.
At the time of her passing, Jodean had been
employed by District 279
for 28 years and currently Elm Creek Elementary
school as a ESP
(Educational Support Professional) with skills
students. She
absolutely loved her students and all of her
colleagues at school as
well.
Preceded in death by parents, a sister and
brother. Survived by
husband Michael, son Jon (Michelle) grandson
Sawyer, daughter Mary
(James Nelson) , adopted son Joe Lagia'aia
(Australia) and three
rescue grand dogs: Gus, Ruby and Kato.
Sisters: Verlene (Tom Nimmo)
and Jane Sorenson (Earl), brother David Swatzina,
special "sis" Geri
(Jim Williams), sister-in-law Lauri (Paul Bickel)
and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be March 19, 2022 from 9am-11am, Memorial service to follow at
11am at Evans Norby Funeral Home in Osseo,
MN. Please consider
bright clothing as neon colors were her
favorite! Mask are requested.
Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in
Chippewa Falls, WI.
This summer there will be a Celebration of Life
Picnic (date/location
to be announced) where we'll toast to Jodean and
her life with us!
In lieu of flowers/plants please consider a charity of your choice or
memorials will be given
to Elm Creek Elementary school for special projects/programs
that aren't budgeted and Animal Rescue Programs that support her
"grand puppies".
