Vogelpohl, John D., age 52 of Dayton MN. Born April 11, 1968 and passed away on Nov. 5, 2020. John was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family immensely and cherished spending time with his wife and children.

John enjoyed sports and competing his entire life. He continued his love of sports from playing High School football to coaching. He valued teaching and mentoring his athletes who respected him greatly. John also had a love for the Christmas season; it was a tradition at the Vogelpohl house to have the Christmas tree up soon after Halloween.

John faithfully served his community and country for more than 28 years, working for the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office as a Sheriffs Detective, in the investigative division, and worked on the FBI joint terrorism task force, working international terrorism cases.

John is survived by his wife, Barb (Stelten), children, Curtis, Leslie, Ethan and Noah, granddaughter Eleanor, sister Ann (Mike), brothers Denny (Svetlana), Bobby (Eileen), many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and colleagues. John was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Jimmy.
