Obituary for Kay L. Frank

Dearly loved Kay L. Frank, 82, of New Brighton, formerly of Blaine and Golden Valley, passed away peacefully July 30, 2023.

Kay was brought up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, graduated from Regis High School, and then the college of St. Scholastica. Kay was a long-time resident of Golden Valley where she and her first husband Earl raised their children. Kay retired from a long and successful career at 3M in the late 1990’s. After Earl died of cancer in 1996, Kay found love again with Larry Johnson whom she married in 2002. Her family and friends will remember Kay for her love for life and sense of humor. She gave her time and energy to volunteering and helping others throughout her life. Although she struggled physically from the effects of early-onset Parkinson’s disease for over 30 years, she rarely complained. Her determination to live a full life, travel, play and listen to great music, and delight in her grandchildren, transcended her physical limitations. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of the people fortunate enough to have met her.

Kay is preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Frank; second husband, Larry Johnson; brother, Lloyd Barrickman, and her beloved granddaughter, Charlotte Kay Downing. She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Jonathan) Downing; son, Daniel Frank; grandchildren, Julia, William and Elliott Downing; a large, wonderful extended family, and many, many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, August 22nd 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Avenue N., Brooklyn Park, MN, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home. It was a very difficult time and they were so caring, sensitive, helpful and very organized in making the funeral go smoothly. The funeral home in Osseo felt so welcoming and comfortable also. Tina was extremely helpful in guiding our family with planning the funeral and went out of her way in finding the right memorial folder for my husband. I would highly recommend them. Thank you all.
