Obituary for Kenny Joseph Mirville

Kenny Joseph Mirville was born on April 22, 1962, to Solon Mirville Sr and Odette (Mitton) Mirville, in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Kenny attended school in France, Africa, and Chile due to his father’s travelling occupation with the United Nations, and he spoke Creole, French, English and Spanish. Kenny’s family settled in New York, where Kenny graduated from high school, although Kenny proudly maintained his Haitian citizenship. It was in New York that he met his best childhood friend, Eddie Nelson. Kenny attended the University of Minnesota for computer management and social studies, which led to a range of occupations relating to insurance, health, and accounting. He enjoyed working and had many friendships with work colleagues.

Kenny was charming, talkative, stylish and the perfect combination of fun and serious. Kenny loved music, cooking, trying new ethnic foods, and enjoyed camping and fishing. He cherished his family and his friends; and never missed reaching out to them for birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. It was with great pride that Kenny maintained his sobriety for more than ten years, however Kenny’s greatest joy was his daughter, Melanie, born during his marriage to Catherine Caitlin.

Kenny is survived by his daughter, Melanie Odette Mirville; his siblings: Mario Mirville, Maggie Mirville, Patrick Mirville (Sandra), Carole Mirville, Lionel (Sandra) Mirville; Chantal Colangeli (Anthony), and Solon Mirville; Nephews Chad Mirville, Shane Mirville; Samuel Mirville; Athalie Mirville; Anthony Colangeli (Buddy) and Anthony Colangeli (Tony); nieces Gabrielle Mirville, Somya Mirville and Odette Colangelli; his great niece, Sloane Mirville, and great nephews, Odell Mirville and Hollis Mirville and his godson, Isaah Andre Nelson. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved aunt Alta.

Kenny was loved by many and will be forever missed

These people are wonderful. They went over and above in every possible way to help us with funeral arrangements, the visitation, service and burial, despite the fact that we had a limited budget. They were patient, kind, and treated us like family. This is a funeral home you can trust. Thank you, Evans-Nordby.
