Obituary for Marlene (Schmidt) Huber

Age 87, died peacefully of metastatic breast cancer on April 3, 2022. Marlene was born in St Paul on March 15, 1935. She graduated from South St Paul High School in 1953, then attended the Minneapolis General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1956. She met her future husband Robert (Bob) through mutual friends, and they married in 1957. Her life was centered around Bob and her family. Marlene worked as a nurse in the Osseo School District #279 at Orchard Lane Elementary. She volunteered at CEAP, with the Osseo Area Retired Educators (O.A.R.E.), and at St Alphonsus Church. Marlene was a nurse and caretaker through and through. She was a mom to all, the first call for medical advice, community organizer, caretaker for elderly relatives and neighbors, and support for others during the pandemic. Marlene was a loyal friend, a great listener, and welcomed everyone with open hands and heart.

Marlene was preceded in death by husband of 62 years Robert (Bob) Huber, brothers Hartland Schmidt, and David Schmidt. Survived by children Kathy (Eric) Weinshel, Tom (Marlys) Huber, Sue (Jon) Fritz and John Huber. Marlene was very proud of her amazing grandchildren: Ben, Sarah, Katelyn (Nicholas), Michael, Nathan (Hannah), Matthew (Eleanor), Rachel, Anna, Evan, Kayli, and two great-grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by her brother Robert (Diana) Schmidt, sister-in-law Irene Schmidt, and special nieces Kristen, Karen, Allison and Caroline.

Our thanks to her friends and all of the staff at St Therese at Oxbow Lakes for their friendship, care, and support. Private burial and Celebration of Life. Memorials preferred to the St Therese Foundation, donate.sttheresemn.org, O.A.R.E Scholarship Fund, or the charity of your choice.

It is a place of compassion, sincerity, professionalism, and staff who go above and beyond their call of duty. Our family has sadly used both chapels over the past months. The caring did not stop after the services. They offer their continued compassion to adults and children. With grateful hearts thank you.
