Born Dec. 1, 1929 in Clearwater County, MN. Went home to be with Jesus Aug 30, 2021 in Coon Rapids, MN. He became a Christian in 1970 at a Navigators Conference in CO. Soon afterward, he celebrated a believer’s baptism. He was a long-time, active church member at Spiritual Life Church in Brooklyn Center.
He graduated in 1948 from Bagley High School. He proudly served in the recently formed U.S.Air Force from 1949-1953.
After training and graduating from Dunwoody Institute in 1955, he became a highly respected expert in boiler and hot water heating systems, working with American Standard, McQuay and then served decades with Blesi-Evans Co. as their top salesman. After retirement, Marv started Stavig Manufacturing which specialized in boiler heat recovery systems from 1995-2016.
On August 10, 1953, Marv was married to Joan Everhart also of Bagley, MN. Together they raised children, Heidi and Christopher. They served and supported ministries throughout the U.S. and internationally, forming Flag of the Nations Ministry. After a long battle with cancer, Joan went home to be with the Lord.
Years later, on January 16, 2005, Marv married Sadie Gordner in Brooklyn Center, MN. It was a blessing; they both desired to serve the Lord in local and international ministries.
Marv cared about the details in life especially when it came to his Lord, family, friends and people.
Marv had a wide range of interests. He loved sailing, skiing, traveling, camping, and hunting.
Preceded in death by spouse, Joan Stavig; parents, Bennie & Mabel Stavig; twin brother, Arvid (Fern) Stavig; brother, Bernie Stavig; brother-in-law, Warren Anderson.
Survived by wife, Sadie Stavig; children, Heidi (David) Foy and Christopher Stavig; sister, Mavis Anderson; sister-in-law, Charlotte “Bootsie” Stavig, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Marv will be missed by all relatives, friends and colleagues.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
