Maureen E. Schwegel (nee Lewis), age 76, of Brooklyn Park, passed away November 2, 2020. Preceded in death by parents, Lee & Vera Lewis and sisters, Betty Fotia and Donna Fotia. Survived by loving husband of 52 years, Don; daughters, Julie (Jim) Barich and Katie (Nick) Folger; grandsons, Andrew, Ben, Cody, and Daniel; and sisters, Kay Holcombe.
Maureen was dedicated to her family, they came first for her. She was a teacher, then took time to raise her two daughters. She went back to teaching when her daughters were in college. She taught until her grandsons were born and then she took care of each of them until they went to school. She especially loved watching all of her grandsons at their various sporting events. If there was a game, match or school concert, she was there.
Maureen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She doted on her family and was happiest when everyone was together.
Private services were held. Memorials preferred.
I highly recommend the team at Evans Nordby. This past weekend, they assisted as we buried my mom. Twelve years ago, they assisted as we buried my dad. Brittney and the staff are so comforting, easy to work with and compassionate. They make every decision simple, and the whole process as painless as possible. I am so happy that we chose this funeral home, and encourage you to consider using them in your time of need.
