Obituary for Patricia Fidler

Patricia Anne “Pat” Fidler (O’Donnell).

Age 76, of Brooklyn Park, passed away suddenly on Dec. 9, 2024.

Pat was born on July 18, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN. She was the first of seven children born to Bernard and Anne O’Donnell. She graduated from Regina High School in 1966 and went on to study Nursing at St. Mary’s Junior College in Minneapolis.

Pat enjoyed a remarkable 47-year career as a Registered Nurse. She began her career at St. Mary’s Hospital and after discovering her passion of caring for oncology patients, joined the pediatric bone marrow transplant unit at what is now M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center as a Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator. She spent the last 33 years of her career there, earning the title of Nurse of the Year in 2015.

In October 1970, Pat married Don, and they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2022.

Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband Don, her parents, sister Maureen, brother Tom and brother-in-law Doug, and numerous cherished cats.

Pat is survived by her sisters, Nora (Scott Hubler) Alyea, Colleen (Scott) Cameron, Bernadette (Glenn) Will, Rosemarie (Sheri) Beck, brother-in-law Ken Ische, and aunt Marie Marinko, as well as many nieces and nephews who she enjoyed spending time with. Special mention to Liam, Hazel and Lydia who brought Pat immense joy in her later years. She is also survived by her adored cats, Momma, Rafaella, and Donatella.

Pat had a love for singing in church choirs, traveling with Don to Europe (especially Italy and Ireland), Israel, and Churchill Bay in Canada to see the polar bears. She also enjoyed visits to the North Shore of Lake Superior and spending time with family in Colorado and Washington State.

In retirement, Pat embraced reading, quilting, traveling, singing in choirs, and reconnecting with former colleagues and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker, Maple Grove, MN.
