Rebecca Kay Zahler
Age 67 of Minneapolis passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024. Rebecca grew up in Brooklyn Center with four sisters and one brother. Preceded in death by father LeRoy Zahler, mother Jean Robinson, step-father Robby Robinson, sister Deborah Billings and sister-in-law Donna Zahler.
Rebecca was a true city girl who worked hard to support her community. She spent years happily teaching children in Early Childhood Education at the Minneapolis Public Schools. Rebecca loved to spend her days walking or riding her bike and “forest bathing” in the parks. She maintained a presence at the Minnesota Zen Meditation Center where she donated her time and energy while building lifelong friendships. She escaped to the northern Minnesota wilderness when she could but she also enjoyed the beautiful gardens of Lakewood Cemetery, the walking paths of Bde Maka Ska or just relaxing in the lovely parks near the Minneapolis Art Institute. Rebecca will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, her love of the natural world, her enjoyment of books and the arts, her wonderful intellect and her spirit of volunteerism.
Rebecca will be greatly missed by her loving sisters Victoria (Mark) Hanson, Wendie OBrien, Jennifer Zahler, brother Larry Zahler, nieces Krista (Joe) Hanson Franklin, Brooke Hanson, Erin Hanson and Lauren Billings (Marton Csuzi), nephews Will OBrien and Thomas Billings, great- niece Geneva Hanson Franklin and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

I highly recommend the team at Evans Nordby. This past weekend, they assisted as we buried my mom. Twelve years ago, they assisted as we buried my dad. Brittney and the staff are so comforting, easy to work with and compassionate. They make every decision simple, and the whole process as painless as possible. I am so happy that we chose this funeral home, and encourage you to consider using them in your time of need.
