Samuel Wallace Erlandson, aged 78, of Champlin, MN passed away peacefully January 16, 2025. It is believed Sam died from missing his true love. With 5 months passing without his best friend, card partner, constant travel companion, and high school sweetheart Sue, Sam was ready to be with her once again.
Sam is still remembered for his wry sense of humor, you never knew when Sam was going to say something devastatingly clever. He created generations of independently minded family that lives through sons Aaron and Brian. Grandchildren Kaden, Gabriella, Isabella and Cecelia all share the stubborn yet loving personality of Sam. Sam’s sister Pearl Altermatt, the Moore in-law sisters Gail Olson and Kaye Hanson, brother in-law Gary Moore, and spouses all survive Sam. Sam’s parents Wallace and Eleanor are at their final resting place at in Lowry, MN along with his brothers Phillip and Gaius.
The roads of the Midwest have the imprint of Sam. Starting in Fridley, where Sam was able to capture the attention of local police for all sorts of driving skill development, to the race tracks on Saturday night with best friends, and finally driving the back roads and bidding at auctions in search of tractors and trucks with his sons on the weekends, Sam had an encyclopedic knowledge of our state and the personalities in countless small towns.
