Seth left us suddenly, without warning. We lost a son, a brother, a devoted and beloved father, best friend and, simultaneously, the world lost one of its most beautiful human beings. You are never prepared for such a loss. You create someone, you nurture and protect them and they grow. There comes a time however when they have to lead their own life, or die their own death. And so, as he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Seth’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to us.
He gave his immeasurable capacity for compassion freely and generously to those who needed it most. And it is this for which he will be remembered, the legacy he left behind. All of us who loved Seth have found some solace in the tremendous outpouring of affection and admiration for him from the people whose lives he touched. His greatest legacy, besides his three children, is the joy and happiness he offered to others, particularly to those fighting personal battles.
Grief is like an unwelcome stranger who invites himself into your life and often stays too long. The way we look at it is that heaven was needing a hero. This brings us some measure of peace. Seth was brave and kind, resilient, funny, and a gifted athlete and student. He knew everything there was to know about books, movies, music, sports and just life as we know it. He cherished his family.
So it is not farewell. Seth will live on in our hearts, right here.
Seth served in the U.S. Army and then graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. He completed a Masters in marriage and family counseling from St. Thomas University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a Therapist at the Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health and Well-Being in Minnesota. He is survived by his three beloved children, Aidan, Madeline and Rhenner Lucas and his former wife, Margo Lucas; his mother, Ellie Cruz; his father and stepmother, Fran and Jill Lucas; his brother and sister-in-law, Zachary and Lorna Lucas. He is also survived by his niece, Brooklyn Lucas and godson, Asher Lucas. In addition, he leaves his uncle, Jack Cruz, aunt, Sandy Cruz, and cousin, Stella; his aunt and uncle, Jackie and Jack Deflumeri; and, his three cousins, Sarah, Hannah, and Emma Deflumeri, aunt and uncle, Bob and Gail Sevestre, and cousins, Rachel and Brandan.

Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next. Evans-Nordby was recommended to us by our Priest and I’m so glad he did. From the moment I talked to Tina on the phone I could tell we were in good hands as she took care of every detail. We met with her the next day and she went through all the aspects of what we were to expect in the coming days, weeks, then months ahead. Every employee we had contact with at Evans-Nordby was kind, compassionate and extremely professional. Thanks Tina and to all at Evans-Nordby for making an unbearable experience at least tolerable.
