Obituary for Theresa Marie (Stelter) Hempeck

Theresa Marie (Stelter) Hempeck, age 59, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, after a six-month unrelenting invasion of endometrial cancer. Theresa grew up in St. Paul’s Merriam Park neighborhood, attended St. Mark’s grade school, and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1981. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Minnesota and started her 25-year career in Corporate Trust at Norwest Bank, now Wells Fargo. She met the love of her life, Todd, on an August summer day at the Minneapolis Aquatennial Hennepin Block Party and they married in the spring of 2001. They made their home in Champlin, MN.

Theresa will be remembered for her economy of words and sly, charming wit. She traveled to Captiva Island, Florida, and New York City yearly, and especially loved Broadway. In summer months you could find her boating on Lake Minnetonka with Todd, always willing to bring anyone along to enjoy the sun and water. She was a generous and empathetic soul.

Survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Todd; mother, Evelyn Stelter, and her siblings Sue (Mike) Flaherty, Paul Stelter, Connie (Jaime) DeLage; brother- and sister-in-law Gary and Jackie Hempeck and many loving nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her father, Frank Stelter, brother David, nephew Stuart Stelter, father- and mother-in-law Donald and LaVonne Hempeck, and sister-in-law LaDonna.

These people are wonderful. They went over and above in every possible way to help us with funeral arrangements, the visitation, service and burial, despite the fact that we had a limited budget. They were patient, kind, and treated us like family. This is a funeral home you can trust. Thank you, Evans-Nordby.
