Obituary for Thomas Eliot Scholberg

Thomas "Tom" Eliot Scholberg of Brooklyn Center, MN, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2019 at the age of 68, after a hard-fought battle with multiple myeloma. He is the son of Justin & Birdie (Lockwood) Scholberg of Ortonville, MN.

Tom graduated from Ortonville High School in 1968. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and three years in the Naval Reserves, and later completed his Master's Degree through the University of Minnesota. He married his high school sweetheart, Debra Inderieden, on June 22, 1974.

Tom enjoyed people, conversation, teaching, boat building, duck hunting, and spending time at the Oakdale Gun Club. Tom retired in 2012 from Hennepin Technical College where he taught Marine Small Engines.

He is survived by his wife, Deb; beloved dogs Booker & Charlie; his father, three brothers, two sisters, nieces & nephews, and many family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Evans Nordby Funeral Home at 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, MN 55429, with a Visitation at 1:00pm and a Service at 2:00pm, followed by social time with refreshments. The family is encouraging casual dress (wear hunting or fishing attire if possible).

Memorials will be used to support two organizations close to Tom’s heart: the Gift of Life House in Rochester, MN and the Oakdale Gun Club.

As Tom would say: "Shiny Side Up."
